Concept development
We would like to be able to show you the details of some of our success stories here, clever solutions we have devised for our clients in the dredging, oil and gas and wind turbine industries, saving them significant sums of money. Understandably however, our clients generally want to keep these details to themselves.
Our starting point is always: is there a cleverer, quicker, lighter way to do this? Anything you can come up in the concept phase to make an operation more efficient, or to make the equipment lighter, will be repaid over and over again in the construction and operational phases. So we identify concepts that will reduce weight, cycle time or installation time.
The development of a sound concept is an essential step between the order and the engineering phase. Concept development therefore plays an essential role in the majority of our projects, for example in the case of FMRS, Ideafix and the wreck grab. We have the concept development process down to a fine art. A concept starts out on a blank sheet of squared paper or a whiteboard. Our people are well-practiced in brainstorming and the collaborative development of new ideas. We have found that the best ideas come up in a team setting, where each member can build on the other's ideas.
We then translate their thoughts into a drawing, 3D model or 3D animation. Within a couple of weeks, or sooner if necessary, we will take the various concepts to show the client. We find it essential for the client to be involved in the eventual selection of the concept. After all, they are the ones who will be working with the new equipment or method.
